January

April

25-26: MD, John Dangerfield, was given a last minute opportunity to present Anovasia’s technology platform at the Annual Biomarkers in Diagnostics and Therapeutics Conference 2012 at the Orchard Parade Hotel in Singapore. The talk was received well leading to several interesting leads.

October

28: Anovasia team publishes an original article in the peer-reviewed journal Molecular Biotechnology. The paper describes a new method of Molecular Painting using fluorescent biomolecules.

13-14: MD, John Dangerfield, attended and presented at the World Vaccine Congress 2012 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore. It was a great meeting resulting in many new connections and business leads.

15: John Dangerfield (MD) was invited as a Speaker to the BioSpectrum BioScience Forum 2013 in Singapore which was part of the BioSpectrum Asia Awards Ceremony at Fort Canning Hotel. The Forum explored the theme “Bioscience VC funding in Asia, a face-off” via interactive panel discussion.

18-21: John Dangerfield (MD) was invited to attend the BioPharma Asia Convention as a delegate, which was held in Singapore. This year for the first time it was hosted at Resorts World Sentosa.

03: MD John Dangerfield attended the well-visited and  organised Asia Biotech Invest event in Hong Kong:

34 years experience in the biotech and pharma industry, especially vaccines, neuroscience and patents. After completing his Master of Science in Organic Chemistry in 1980, Peter joined A/S Ferrosan and became the Head of Patent Department in 1981. In 1992, he became a European Patent Attorney. In 1989, he was a co-founder of NeuroSearch A/S May 1989, a Danish corporation listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange developing drugs acting on the central nervous system. Peter was the Director of Patents and Licensing and Corporate Management member of NeuroSearch A/S until 1997. Peter then moved to become (1994 - 2007) President & CEO of Bavarian Nordic A/S, a Danish corporation in vaccines listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Peter co-founded Sentinext Therapeutics Sdn Bhd in 2008 and was the CEO until 2013. He is currently an Independent Consultant to the Biotech industry and the Chairman of Skau Vaccines Aps and a Board member of InProTher Aps. Mr. Wulff also sits on the Advisory Board...

Biotech Invest 2014

A medical doctor by training, Alex followed his degree from the University of Basel with immunology and pathology research in Switzerland, Britain, France and USA before entering into the pharmaceutical industry. He has published more than 100 scientific articles plus several book chapters in the area of oncology and hematology. He is the recipient of the 13th Warren-Alpert prize and the AACR-Bruce F. Cain Memorial Award. He also was Associate Professor at the Medical School of the University of Basel for several decades and held fellowships at the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Academy for Medical Sciences. Alex is probably best known for his contribution to the development of Glivec/Gleevec, one of the world’s first tyrosine kinase inhibitor drugs against chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Starting in the mid-eighties, he led a team of close to 200 scientists at Novartis to discover and optimize the lead compound and brought it all the way through its first clinical trial in 1998. Anovasia moved its operations next door to a new, custom-built facility in the Synapse building of Singapore's main biotech hub, the Biopolis. At the opening were VIP guests such as our board member and head of the ETC and D3 centres, Dr Alex Matter, as well as the Chairman of A*STAR, Mr Lim Chuan Po.

Biotechnology Start-ups and Investment event at SPRING Singapore

Key development

Great news for Molecular Painting. A group from Brazil published that liposomes modified by GPI-anchored protein can confer immunity in an animal model. This is proof that liposomes can be surface engineered with Molecular Painting and that such vesicles can be used for vaccine applications.

20-22 John attended the Asia Biotech Invest event at Hong Kong's Sharaton Towers Hotel. The event was well supported by investors and business opportunities and the talks tackled some controversial issues. Exisiting contacts were developed and interesting new ones made.

Team members Christoph Metzner and John Dangerfield both made presentations at VLPNPV 2017 in Singapore.

 

John Dangerfield was also on the scientific advisory and organising committees and was instrumental in bringing the event to Asia for the first time. He also chaired several sessions and made the event opening and closing remarks.

 

Anovasia was a key sponsor, holding a food and drinks networking event on the last day.
